About Carol Phillips
TRAINING: Carol Phillips began her musical journey at the age of 9. When she was 12 years old she was invited to spend a year away from home, living and studying in the home of her piano teacher, Charlene Habenicht Kuebler. She obtained a Bachelor's of Music Education, majoring in piano pedagogy and voice.
TEACHING EXPERIENCE: Ms. Carol has taught 14 years, where she has managed private piano students and classroom music education.
PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE: She continues to maintain an active professional career as an accompanist. Over the past six years she has performed four classical duo-keyboard programs. Ms. Carol is a member of the Music Teachers National Association and the Tennessee Music Teachers Association.
TEACHING STYLE: She is a compassionate, enthusiastic and knowledgeable teacher, offering a well-rounded program and lessons tailored to individual goals and interests. She uses engaging teaching methods that are rich in demonstration with well-prepared lesson plans. In addition to weekly lessons, musical opportunities are provided with group classes every six weeks throughout the school year.
TEACHING PHILOSOPHY: Talent is not inborn. Every child can develop the skills necessary to play an instrument if taught in a loving, nurturing environment. Combining my passion for music with my love for teaching and children is what I like most about my job. I am not only providing music education but I am teaching self-confidence, the value of achieving a specific goal and most of all the life-long joy of playing a musical instrument.
